The epilogue had absolutely nothing new to say, just restated brief parts from the chapters, except for an odd, rather pointless aside about the H1N1 outbreak a few years ago. It was used 33 times in the book. We benefit from the heroism, mysteries solved, and insights shown here. I really enjoyed learning about some of the medical breakthroughs and how they occurred. He had epigraphs that were then repeated in the text a page later, and the chapters ended with summaries stating the same things.

Breakthrough! by Jon Queijo
This should have been a breeze! The first warning was in the introduction, where he laid out his case for calling "The Rise of Alternative Medicine" one of the ten greatest discoveries. Though his defense in naming this is gutsy, I have to admit that it colored how I read this book. How objective is this book, and how often will the author inject his sensibilities into the subject matter? We might do well to revisit and reconsider the words and writings of a man whose practice of medicine was truly holistic, encompassing not only rationality and clinical observation, but ethics, compassion, and even belief in a higher force.
