I have been learning about compromise I have posted before and initally it was with the Dayton RS drivers. Most said I needed to find a new tweeter that would cross as low as So I was back to the problem of finding a tweeter that works well lower OR it was suggested to find a woofer with a better high end cross over point. What I have learned from all of this, is why they have mids.
I just do not think I can or should try to squeeze one in. Or should I? My Vb is. So I am not even sure the Alpha was going to work out but their spec sheet said I was in their enclosure range. Free air of hz But the RS needs to be crossed at highest but even then they said that might be too high to start crossing at ant that for the RS, it might be best to do under 2K. So my tweeter selection was also not going to work. Again, the problem here was that I seem to be shy in baffle space to fit both without touching.
Since I am new to this, I felt forced to find two drivers that will cross better without loosing my range. I hate overspending since the same article stated that even the best speakers, if not crossed properly, are wasting the extra money spent. That is, not sound as good as one would expect for the price they paid with stock XO Moreover, it would seem from the one post, the Alpha does not have much low end bass on it when compared to the RS If you see any reviews on " drivers besides the one on Zaphs site, please forward the link.
But if you like his review and want to confirm using one over the other, let me know what you think as well.
