Such high values of current have following implications. FCMA Soft starter The softest start for your electrical motor, with a constant, stepless acceleration and without harmonics. Possibility to reduce in some case the starting current on the grid to : 1,5 x FLA During the starting time the FCMA Soft Starter controls a constant starting current, in the same time voltage is increasing, giving enought torque to the motor to reach full speed steplessly before being by-passed without opening the power circuit.

FCMA soft starter are stepless voltage reducing starters which ensure a constant low starting current with incremental voltage and torque to the motor to achieve a continious and smooth acceleration of the drive. The soft starter is connected in series with the motor either on the line side or neutral side and thus, controls the starting current and starting torque.

As the motor speed increases the FCMA impedance decreases due to the counter emf feedback to achieve incremental voltage and torque for the motor while keeping the current constant. A built-in bypass device closes to ensure full voltage running of the motor after starting, bypass operation can be time, current or speed based.

With the rugged FCMA technology this could be done without any electronic or moving parts. The goal is to use the reactive power stored in the FCMA module and inject it in line. The fraction of energy that can be tapped is proportional to the voltage drop in the FCMA module and the motor current. This current is in phase opposition to the motor current and hence will directly be deduct to the line current.

The MC winding is magnetically coupled to the main winding and ER winding. Low Voltage compensators are connected to the MC winding and this current is reflected by the ER winding into the line high voltage system. The advantage is to have low voltage compensators which are in a close circuit with the MC winding so immediatly discharged when not used.
